Maasin City - the capital of Southern Leyte. It has 70 baranggays and located in the western part of province. Maasin City became cityhood on August 10, 2000. The current government officials are:Mayor: Nacional V. Mercado (Lakas-CMD) and Vice- Mayor:Maloney L. Samaco. Total area contains 85,560 and had demonym(s) “Maasinhon”. Maasin ZIPcode:6600. The Diocese of Maasin was founded on August14,1968. Maasin is one of the oldest towns in Southern Leyte. Maasin also like other places who have festival who celebrated every fiesta joined by maasinhons who creatively take stunning design use only natural resources or manmade design by. They are float which parades on the road joined by the different institution, government employees, and schools. Maasin is known for its hospitable traits. Maasin comprises with lots of businesses it was one of the reasons why people visit this place. Maasin has also had a beautiful tourist spot most likely the religious one which makes it more visitors loved to visit here. Maasin maintains its simplicity and peaceful place and adorable. Maasin might be a city but less crowded and traffic does not exist.

Maasinhons was known even on local showbiz like on Pinoy Got Talent which maasinhons won grand champion on that show which comprises the " Maasihon Trio".  Maasinhon also featured on Jessica Soho which comprises the "F poor" which get trending online on its version of F4. Maasin also visited by different artist like Angeline Quinto, Jaso Dy, Wacky Kiray, Eric Santos, Kz Tandingan, Yael, and even Piolo Pascual etc. Maasin now is progressing slowly as it was. Maasin Plaza is now its best view, Maasin gym was renovated into classy one many establishments are now built and investors are coming into place.
