Our Lady of Assumption

(Maasin City, Southern Leyte)

Our Lady of Assumption is one of known tourist attraction in Maasin City, Southern Leyte. It is one of the most visited spots not because it's on the top but it is a sacred place to pray. Most Maasinhon call Our Lady of Assumption as "Mama Mary Shrine". Mama Mary Shrine is located in Mantahan Maasin City.  

Note: Those who did not know how to reach Mama Mary Shrine, you can ride coding tricycle (orange), to reach Mantahan, Maasin City.

Our Lady of Assumption at Jalleca Hills contains 243 steps before reaching the top. It has a 36-meter statue. It was built on 1994 through the initiative of devotees.

Upon steeping the stairs mostly people meditate on the station of the cross which you can saw as you pass by. At the top, you will also saw their cathedral over looking at the Maasin City. The view was merely admirable and pleasant to look at.  There were flowers along the way of the shrine. It seems like a garden which intended also experience fresh air. Thus, it was mostly visited by the Marian local and national devotees.  Our Lady of Assumption is celebrated on September 8, which visited by many devotees to say "Thank You". The celebration starts with a mass and end with a mass. Beautiful flowers are everywhere which offer to honor our Blessed Virgin Mary
Note: Don't forget to bring water and towel. In case you'll hungry there also a store at the top.

When you reach the top you will saw the statue of Mama Mary looking up implicates that against all calamities might encounter  Mama Mary is always there.  The hand gesture of  Mama Mary signs Protection of us and the city. Most awaited part also there is the sunset which solemnly nice to look at while praying. When you were there you feel relax and help yourself meditate on God.
